The story kicks off where most epic fantasies end. The Demon King has been defeated, peace is restored, and the heroic party-composed of the handsome hero Himmel (voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto), the corrupt priest Heiter (Hiroki Touchi), the dwarf warrior Eisen (Yoji Ueda), and the elven mage Frieren (Atsumi Tanezaki)-returns to their normal lives.
But there’s a catch. Frieren is an elf with a lifespan that stretches over thousands of years. To her, their decade-long quest was just a tiny blip in her existence. When she returns decades later to find her former companions aged and nearing the end of their lives, she is hit with a heavy realization: she spent all that time with them, but never truly tried to know them. Following Himmel's passing, Frieren embarks on a new journey with a young apprentice, Fern (Kana Ichinose), and the cowardly yet brave warrior Stark (Chiaki Kobayashi). Her goal? To retrace her steps, fulfill her old friends' dying wishes, and figure out how to connect with the short-lived humans around her.
