Madras, 1986. Eight-year-old Baththa - the nickname our timid little hero goes by - is the kind of kid who flinches at his own shadow. One ordinary afternoon, a series of small, frightened decisions leads him to accidentally lock a feared local gangster inside a deserted school toilet. He doesn't mean to. He just... panics. And then he runs.
What follows isn't a chase movie. It's a waiting game. The gangster, stripped of his henchmen and his reputation and eventually his dignity, is forced to sit with hunger, loneliness, and the terrifying realization that he is, underneath all the menace, just a man. Meanwhile, Baththa hovers outside, caught between fear and a strange, creeping empathy. The two never share much screen time in the traditional sense, yet their bond becomes the entire movie. By the end, both lives have quietly, irreversibly changed.
